Wordwise Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you provide

• Account information: Name, email address (from Google OAuth).
• Subscription information: Payment status, plan type (via Stripe).

We do not store your Google password.

1.2 Lookup and usage data

• Words you look up and their context (sentence or paragraph).
  • Used only to generate definitions, translations, and related features.
• Lookup history if you choose to save it.
• Anki export actions (e.g., which cards were exported).

1.3 Payment information

• Stripe handles all payment information.
• We never see or store your full credit card number.

1.4 Technical information

• Browser version, device type, extension version.
• Error logs (non-personal whenever possible).

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

• Provide word lookup, definitions, translations, and Anki exports.
• Improve lookup accuracy (e.g., detect language, fix errors).
• Manage your subscription and account access.
• Send you service-related emails (e.g., trial ending, receipts).
• Improve product features and performance.

We do not sell your data. Ever.

3. How Your Data Is Stored

• We use Supabase to store account and lookup data.
• Data is transmitted via HTTPS and encrypted at rest.
• Only authorized team members can access necessary data to operate the service.

4. Chrome Extension Permissions

The Wordwise extension may request:

• ActiveTab + context menus: to read selected text for lookup.
• Storage: to save local preferences (e.g., popup settings).
• Notifications (optional): for signup/login reminders.

We do not collect browsing history.

5. Third-Party Services

We rely on secure third-party providers:

• Supabase – authentication, database, storage
• Stripe – payments and billing
• OpenAI / other LLM providers – generate definitions/translations

Your data is shared only as needed to perform core Wordwise features.

6. Your Choices

You can:

• Delete lookup history at any time (in Settings).
• Cancel your subscription at any time.
• Request complete account deletion via email: support@wordwise.me

When your account is deleted, all lookup history and personal data are permanently removed.

7. Children's Privacy

Wordwise is not intended for children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. If the changes are significant, we will notify you by email or through the app.
